Chicago was the city, and June was the month. We were about to conclude our early summer tour in which we visited Washington, Oregon, California, Texas, Illinois and finally NYC.
We arrived in Chicago, watched the Cubs get beat (which we are told is standard), and then we toured the Windy City.
Then something beautiful happened.
Pam, one of my long-time viewers and a Patron of mine, had offered to show us some of Chicago, eat some pizza and then meet her family. I filmed some of the experience in my latest YouTube vlog:
Pam took us to the Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Co - a place that makes pizza pot pies. I’d never seen anything like them before, and they were very good.
But that wasn’t all - Pam then took us to the Old Navy Pier where we met her lovely family, who brought a homemade cheesecake made to a family recipe and designed in the Stars and Stripes (photo below).
Pam and her family were truly lovely and kind to us, spent loads of time talking about their hometown.
This is just one of many similar amazing experiences I’ve had in America, where people have gone out of their way to welcome my wife and I to their hometown, show us around and bring tasty treats. I feel truly lucky to have the people who watch my content and spend the time to come and say hello. Thank you to all, and a special thank you to Pam and her family.
I find it endearing, and truly urges me on in my long-standing desire to try to achieve a working visa to live and work in the US.
What a place and what a people!
I have Big news!
Tonight is the night my wife and I launch our new YouTube channel.
There are a few people who still want me to share videos from my home in Scotland and some of the other world travel things my wife and I get up to, so we decided to set up a brand new channel, called Shaun and Teka, where we will be showing just that.
And the first video is launching tonight - so make sure and tune in below and subscribe to the channel:
Thank you for reading. We are very excited to be launching weekly videos on this channel, from our home in Scotland to the world, every Monday evening. It will be a commercial enterprise, as we have to be able to cover the cost of making these videos. We will eventually sell merchandise and other products, but for now, the very best way to support our new channel is to become a Patron.
Thank you as always for your continued support.
Shaun
